Clean up reminder

Just a reminder to all gardeners that our gardens are a public space for gardening and not a dumping ground for garbage and waste.  During the Blackburn Hamlet Annual Spring Clean Up, volunteers removed 6 bags of trash from the gardens, and a couple of weeks later, collected three more bags of trash. In both cases, it was reported that a lot of the waste was gardening-related plastic.  Please clean up after yourselves and bring your garbage back home with you for disposal. Former GAGA president honored with garden signage

New signage adorns both the Anderson and Orient Park gardens honoring former president George Bushell who led the Gloucester Allotment Garden Association for 36 years from its inception in 1981 till 2017 when he moved to Kitchener to be closer to his family. The executive approved this honour in his name and both the Anderson and Orient Park gardens can be referred to as the George Bushell gardens. Water’s on, ground tilled, plots staked: gardens ready!

Good news gardeners: the plots at Orient Park and Anderson are ready! City water was turned on earlier this week at Orient. Tilling was completed at both gardens over the Victoria Day weekend. Staking was completed Monday at noon and all annual plots are now ready. Compost delivery is tentatively scheduled for Thursday May 30 assuming city load restrictions are lifted by then.  Please do not plant anything in the front 10 feet or so of your plots until the compost is delivered.
